About

Hi! I am Brittney, thank you for stopping and reading my blog. I am a stay at home mama to 6, an entrepreneur, the family pastor at my local church community, and a short term missionary. Between my husband and I we have 3 businesses.

I have been pouring out into this little space in the world for over 9 years now. This picture below is of me in Africa, on my first trip. This is a picture that actually shows you that dreams, or at least parts of dreams, do and can come true. Not for a lack of pain, heart ache, hard work or sacrifice, no those things are a must for the beauty that we search for, they go hand and hand.

You see this is why I blog, because in this moment as I write, and I look at this picture I am being stirred inside. I am being reminded, DREAM!
So it's mostly selfish but my hope is that maybe, just maybe, I can get you to dream too. Not my dreams, but your dreams.

I am a mother to five beautiful babies, one of those 5 being my sweet Niece.I am a wife to my Jesus-loving, gentle, yet fierce husband, Luke. He was the one who captured this picture, knowing that he desperately wanted to see my dream come true, he rejoiced with me because it is his dream too. These two are also proof that dreams come true, being married to Luke and having all my babies. Oh and you know ain't none of that easy, yet it's still beautiful.

I am a big sister to 5 brothers, 4 step brothers, and 4 sisters, being a big sister is important to me, so it's hard that I live far from all of them.

I love summer first, then fall, then spring and winter last. I was born in Ohio but throughout my life I have moved all over the country, from sunny Florida to red soiled Alabama to southern love South Carolina.

My husband and I met here in beautiful Fort Mill, South Carolina where we live now. We travel all over and our plan is to one day live full time in Africa with all our babies as missionaries, where I want to hold and kiss orphaned faces, for as long as I am able. I love Jesus and all the people that He died for. My life has been changed and blessed by His never ending love! His personal love for me and my family on a daily basis fuels me with a passion I can not contain. I have chosen to give my life to Him and His people.

I love being a mommy! I tell people often that our children make us better people, and it is really true. In every way they teach me and help me to grow into the person that I have always wanted to be. I adore their smiles, laughs, eyes, lips, cheeks, noses, the way they love and forgive and trust. Yes, being a mom can be really hard and there are days you want to pull your hair out and run in the back yard in big circles screaming. But those moments pass fast and don't compare to the joy and love that they give.

Our dream of adopting our little African boy came true on December 12th, 2018 in Lagos, Nigeria. I dreampt of what his face would look like, his smiles, tears, fears and all that he would bring. I dreampt of giving him a loving family of brothers and sisters and mommy and daddy, that would love him, in all his ways good, bad, and ugly! He is fully ours and adopted, yet we still are waiting for the U.S. to give us a visa to bring him home.

I love making things, creating, teaching, dancing, singing, being with my family, taking pictures and sharing it all with you!

The 50's, 60's, and 70's are my favorite.  Part of the way I express myself is through style, by dress, home decor, art and so on.

I love to love and Jesus is teaching me how! If you are here please follow and comment! And I am looking forward to getting to know you!

Love

  3. I stumbled onto your blog via random "pintresting". I've found you very inspiring! I too have a dream of one day holding the faces of orphans around the world and telling them about our great Lord and Saviour. I lived in Nicaragua for a couple of months after high school on my own at an orphanage - the experience changed me and still lives on in me 8 years after the fact! I have two littles and love that you have a "large" family - I can't wait to add to my nest! God bless you and your family on your journey!

  5. Hi Britteny! I found your blog through Instagram...isn't social media awesome?! :-) My sister passed in June 2009 and this time of year always makes me think of her. Well, there actually isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of her, actually. She passed away from a rare type of cancer. Her birthday Is October 10th and she loved this time of year! She was the oldest of our 5 sisters, and I'm the youngest. She was very much my mother figure. She fostered many children over the years. She has 3 amazing biological children and also adopted 6, yes SIX other amazing children. She is missed by so many, but never forgotten! Your blog just makes me think so much of her. I have one child, a four year son who is my world. I often think of adoption because he is my little miracle and I know I can't give him siblings unless I adopt due to health issues. Your stories are amazing and inspiring. I am a single mom but never stop dreaming of having more kids in my life...because family is all about what you make it, and love and support.

I'm so grateful to have found your blog. I hope all is well and that your journey brings you lots of happiness. You are truly an inspirational woman, and your family is simply beautiful!

Btw I'm @lorisextonleal on Instagram. Feel free to connect, I love making new social media friends!

  7. Hi Brittney,

I'm a born & raised Texas girl currently in college. I randomly stumbled across your blog via pinterest when scrolling through photography centered on 'Joy.' Your family picture came up :) I don't usually comment on things, but I have never seen something like this. Thank you, thank you for your transparency and opening up your life ( the joy, the good, the plain hard). I've been so encouraged by your pictures and writing to keep dreaming, loving, and walking with my Jesus; that life is truly beautiful and worth living well in every season we are in. Contentment is a choice. Joy is a choice. Love is a choice. And, our Father is so good to us we have nothing to fear if we are in His hands. I look forward to reading more about your life adventures. BTW: I love your choice of style and dress.
    Much Love,
    Teara
